Kari T. Hodges, age 83, passed away on June 26, 2010 at home in Anderson, CA. Born in August 1926 in southwestern Norway, she immigrated to the United States in 1946 independently and with no other family members to an old farm in Kansas belonging to friends of distant relatives. It was a cold and dismal place and she soon moved on to Portland, OR before settling in San Francisco, CA where she worked for Pacific Bell 30 years, until her retirement and then relocating to Anderson. A lifelong conservationist, she loved hiking, gardening/being out in nature, reading and traveling, camping and spending summers back in Norway until her diagnosis of Parkinsons, which up until the end didn't stop her from being active and walking daily and spending time outside. She was a strong and independent woman, never asking or relying on anyone else for help. she was a beloved mother to daughter, W. Kari, beloved grandmother to Mia and great grandchildren Willow and Guntar, and to her surviving three sisters in Norway and their families and her many good friends. Kari will be greatly missed.
