Richard Dean "Rick" Carter
Rick lost his 10 year battle with liver disease July 8, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 26, 1963, to Richard Dean, Sr., and Linda Marie (Long) Carter, in Gerber, CA. Rick grew up in Redding and graduated from Enterprise H.S. in 1982. After graduation, Rick attended the Arizona Automotive Institute to pursue his lifelong passion for cars and mechanics. Rick worked as a mechanic for several local dealerships, U.P.S., and briefly had his own business. Rick was extremely generous with his time and talent.
On July 6, 1985, Rick married Rebecca Ann Fuhrman and they had three children: Zachary Aaron, Ashley Anne, and Alexander Nickolas. In the late '90's, Rick was diagnosed with liver disease and was put on a transplant list. With lots of prayer and determination, Rick's condition improved greatly, and by the time his name came up on the list, he decided against a transplant. Rick's symptoms recurred in the last year.
Rick was preceeded in death by his father, Richard Sr., and mother, Linda. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of Anderson, children Zachary and Crystal Carter of Portland, OR., Ashley and Benjamin Arnold of Redding, and Alex of Anderson. He is also survived by brother Dan Carter, and sister Kim Carter of Redding and numerous other family members. No service will be held at Rick's request.
