Edwin Weldon DeGraff, a 37 year resident of Shasta County, passed away peacefully August 13th, 2012 in Redding, California. Edwin was born October 6, 1924 in Greensboro, NC. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was active in the Pacific Theater during WW II. After his honorable discharge in 1945 he came to California where he graduated from U.C. Davis with a B.S. degree in Dairy Science. He had a 37 year career as a Dairy Inspector with the California Department of Food and Agriculture. He married his wife Lorraine in 1950 and was happily married for 62 years. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, friend and neighbor.
Edwin is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughter Stephanie DeGraff-Hunt, son James DeGraff; grandsons Dylan DeGraff, Vincent DeGraff, and Christopher Hunt, brothers Harold DeGraff and Billy DeGraff, sisters Helen Phillips and Edith Thornett, and many nieces and nephews. He will have a special place in our hearts forever.
Memorial service will be held at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, Friday, September 7 at 11:00 AM. Reception following at Igo Inn.
